    Here in NTSC prog:

and here in PAL prog, notice half of the n is missing on the right side.

It is also noticable in the setup menu. Here is a normal pic in NTSC prog.

and here in PAL prog. Notice the horizontal bar under Main Menu.

I updated my player with this firmware http://www.apache.co.uk/vision/dvd25_upgrade_01.asp

A friend bought his player in Germany already upgraded, and he has the same problem.

Does nobody else in Europe have this problem? (Hulk, I feel so alone...) :suicide:
    Comments please.

Is it just the way the pics were taken, or is PAL noticeably sharper too?

The shift is pretty obvious I have to agree...

The sharpness is fine, only the photographers photo taking abilities are to blame... :)

Nops, no problem here with my HK25+HS10. I was just looking to the projected image and comparing PAL PS and NTSC PS, no shift at all...

EDIT: This post is about the Z1 projector.. "Get me coat"..
    **********************************************

In the factory and service menus there are different settings for the geometry of 576i, 576p, 480i, 480p etc. Some brave Germans have been exploring the settings and have gathered their findings in this Excel chart .

There's been lots of tweaking discussion in German in the Beisammen forum ( www.beisammen.de ).

P.S. do not blame me when you manage to destroy your projector. ;)

    ****!

Good news for you, and bad news for me.

I hooked up the dvd 25 with a Sony VPL-XV 20 at work. It only had BNC in on component, and I only managed to find two single cables I could use. I got picture, but it was then, of course, green.

The good news is that I did not see any pic shift at all, whether it was PAL, PAL60, NTSC, prog or interlaced.

The bad news is then that is seems there is a problem with my Sharp XV-Z90 accepting the PAL prog signal. If this is only from the H/k dvd 25 or not, I don't know. It also reports PAL as being 580p (and 580i) instead of 576p (576i). I have earlier fed the Z90 with progressive signals from an iScan, but I was then not aware of this problem, and neither did I notice any then.

    For rauer:
I checked out your chart, but that is for the Sanyo PLV-Z1. I don't know how to access any menu that can control the geometry like that on my pj. I will check out that german forum a bit more.

    AHHH - solution - hopefully!!

I checked out that german forum, and one poster says (he's actually answering another question) that there is a software update for the Z90. Without this update the picture will be shifted to the right when you use PAL progressive.

    :)

    Let's hope he's right.

    EU-Viking,

sorry I don't know where my thoughts were. I was simultaneously reading several threads regarding the DVD25, the Z1 and this combo. So I wasn't paying enough attention..

Anyway, I'm glad you found _something_ there. :)

No worries, I found my answer there. Only prob now is that I can't download the update, and that the dealer won't send it to me. I'll have to go there, and it's kinda out of my way. But at least it's fixable!
