Paid a visit to RAF Cosford the weekend, a really good day out and it's free entry.Took loads of pics, here are just a few took with my Panny FZ5 which i purchased recently.

The pictures have been cropped and sharpened using Picasa.

The construction shots are the new hangar that will be rady for next year.

Thanks Steve,Yes I like abstract angles but with all the planes so close together some of the shots have been cropped to avoid intrusion of the next plane comming into shot.

I see you have moved from Staffs to Shrops recently have you been to Cosford yet it really is worth a visit.

By the way when I was posting the pictures of cosford I had to resize as some were over 120kb but under 200kb.

Looking at Mr Cats pictures on another post this morning his image sizes were up to and over 200kb how come his images were OK and not mine.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Yours are uploaded to the forums server. Mr Cats are hosted elsewhere and he has just posted links to show the pictures.

If you have some web space from your ISP you can do the same. Or use an online photo hosting service like pbase etc.

No, never been there Keith and it's only down the M54 from me now. Whats the deal, is it free to get in and have a look round or do they have special tours?

I understood that Cosford was one of the storage depots for the bombs used in Iraq, that would be a sight to see!

I think its open about 364 days a year and entrance is free. The only time you pay is when they have air displays which is a couple of times a year.

They have 3 large hangers full of aircraft and other items such as missiles, vehicles, engines etc.A new hanger is under construction at the moment which will be open next year.

There are also plenty of aircraft on static display outside the hangars including Vulcan, comet, and various commercial and military aircraft.

It is a pretty full day for your first visit if you look at everthing on display. There's usually a few light aircraft taking off from the landing strip as it is a working airfield so you can get a few pics of them as well.If anyone in your party is disabled they even have free powered wheelchairs.

Excellent day out you won't regret going.

I'll go for that too. Back round to mine afterwards for a tour of Ironbridge and all the photo opportunities it affords, plenty of boozers too :D
