    Hi,

Been looking for a Plasma, and so have obviously been into some stores to just have a look at the picture each produces. You hear a lot about how for eg Panny PX60/70 are better than the Samsung Q7 range, and the LG is even lower but in the store, the PQ for me seemed to be that the LG/Samsung are on par, and the pannys are much below.

Surely not? They are recieving the exact same SD signal. Really im wondering, when a signal is being split this many times, would it be correct to say that all im doing is seeing which Tuner in the sets are better with a poor quality signal? Hence a samsung/lg might look better in store, but if all 3 sets were connected to individual sources, then the panny would be better?

Im not trying to be specific to makes, but this is an example of what i've seen, then read about. I also appreciate fully setting the screens is essential but ive seen this trend in Comets, Currys, Hughes Electrical, John Lewis and Richer Sounds! All of which have the Pannys showing a worse picture compared to the samsung/LG!

If what im saying is right, how would i be able to really compare screens for SD? For HD i can see you can ask them to hook up a blu-ray/HD-DVD and play it but you cant get another independent aerial signal!

    Thanks

After visiting Currys.Digital (as i believe they're now called), i did notice that all the LCD's showing film trailers and their own in store promotional videos were all showing in HD. You can easily tell as there's no way an LCD can look that good without an HD source :)

    Bit confused on reply? lol
Think you may have misunderstood my question?

Im just wondering if in a store, where the aerial is split between all TVs, the only thing you will see is which panel has the better tuner, not which can show the better picture (if that makes sense). If this is the case, what can i do to compare PQ of SD signal?

    Thanks

Go to a proper specialist shop - they'll probably hook up a DVD player to it.
