I was recently sold some 'GJ Home Cinema' cables (component 3RCA - 3RCA) by a local TV shop.
The manager told me that 2 of the 3 connections were video and the other 1 was audio, but that I could still use all 3 for video.

I suspect that the 2 video connections are 75 ohms and the 1 audio connection is 50ohms.

Can I assume that this would be the cause of ghosting on DVD picture?

I have a Hitachi 42PD300E plasma TV, and a Yamaha DVD-S540 dvd player.

I'd guess none of them are 75 ohm
the only 3phono leads i can think of would be 2 audio and one video
Without being funny, you have a £4000 screen, you should really get a decent dedicated component lead
Qed SRCV1 £110 or if you insist on lower price PCV1 £65
    But i'd aim even higher.
