i just bought the sharp aquos 26" and on freeview it's very impressive , but on playing a dvd the picture seems to distort

the figures in the middle are very thin and then start bulging out at the sides

any idea what i can do ? or is this part of and parcel of differing resolutions ??

i understand the sharp has very wide res but 500 or so high ??

Check your wide mode settings. Its sounds like you've got the input for your DVD set to Panorama when it should be set to Full for a widescreen signal. Also make sure your DVD player is set to output 16:9.

i've also got the dvd feeding out via an s-video signal , should i use an rgb scart instead ?
Using an RGB enabled scart will possibly give you a slightly better picture than S-Video.

i discovered the problem

ntsc s-video wasn't giving out any wss signals , and i didn't realise there was a button for screen mode hidden under the remote flap

sorry to have wasted your time , but thanks anyways
