Just received the latest NTL download/update (Manchester area) and I couldn't believe the difference in pic quality. It's EXCELLENT. Pin sharp, crystal clear, seems to be more 'dynamic' and the menus are much easier to read than the previous blue translucent ones.

    WELL IMPRESSED.

Makes up for the annoying changes like Channel numbers, Favourites, all channels visible and no yellow subtitles button.

Although my second stb locked up while downloading and is now completely locked. :(
Engineer's coming tomorrow. Asked for a 4000 model as I believe these work with Pronto Remotes. :)

Mine both locked too. Left them overnight and they were fine in the morning.

Still get really low signals on some channels, especially Sky 1 and E4.

Probably a daft question, but how can you tell when you've had an update? I assume this is an automatic thing?

I had to reboot my STB to receive the update as I tend to leave it switched on.

You will know when you receive the update, an info screen is displayed, it takes several minutes (DON'T press ANYTHING on the remote whilst the update is in progress, like I did) and you will eventually see the glorious new pink/purple colour schemes on the menus, which I tend to prefer.
