New Pentax flagship APS-C DSLR is now (finally) on sale, the K3-iii. Though all initial shipments sold out immediately.
They seem to have finally fixed their long-standing inferior autofocus based on all initial reports, including continuous at 10-12 fps on fast moving subjects. High ISO performance reportedly compares well with the Sony A7 III full frame and is better at some ISO settings - good large print performance is seen at ISO 12,800 and even higher with smaller prints. See Albert Siegel's report here:
.
Video at up to 4K/25 or 30p is included, with sensor-shift stabilization.
The cost of all this excellence is high: £1,899 in the UK but even at that price you currently can't buy one anywhere, all sold out. It seems that to date, Pentax is not doomed.
If you only want to take photos then I’d recommend a stills camera, buy the right tool for the job :smashing:I’m really showing my ignorance here. For years I had a Canon SLR camera, and even I say so myself I took some decent pictures.
Anyway between one thing and another I never got around to buying a digital camera relying on my iPhone and iPad, not ideal I’ll grant you.
In my early seventies I’ve come to a stage in my life that I don’t want to spend money on an all singing all dancing camera. I’m now in the realms of a happy snapper.
A friend has pointed me in the direction of this camcorder come camera sold by Amazon https://***********/276dsbps (it’s a tiny url) He’s showed me a few pictures he took and they look decent. I’ve tried to find some info on the gear but it is hard to find. I’m thinking it is a badged camera.
Reading through the forum I’m assuming you are all using much better gear but I’d appreciate your views. Remember it really will only be used for messing around with
Thanks for any advice you have to offer

You should be able to post links but yours doesn’t look like a correct link as it’s mostly ******
The brief real spec list is a worry together with the poor translation of it's abilities. Thanks snerkler. I’ll have another go at the link

I noticed that too. To the OP, you'd be better off buying a decent super compact or bridge camera.5.6mm is about right for a 28mm equivalent lens on a 1/2.3in sensor which is small as you say but worryingly I didn't notice it's a fixed lens with no actual zoom which is even worse than I thought when I first looked at it.
Not as awesomely silly as this though....I've gone mirrorless with the Canon EOS M50 and the lens adaptor, it looks a bit silly with a 17-40mm L lens attached. I'll still be using my Canon 70D for wildlife photography. I've not been able to do much in the way of photography due to an eye issue (which seems to behaving itself at the moment) and a shoulder injury (getting old is fun). All I've done is changed a few settings on the M50, updated the firmware and dashed outside when it stopped raining to give it a whirl.
My other half thinks my M6 mk II looks ridiculous when I have my 200 f/2.8 L, 100 f/2.8 L macro, or f/2.8 24-70 L lenses attached to it!I've gone mirrorless with the Canon EOS M50 and the lens adaptor, it looks a bit silly with a 17-40mm L lens attached. These things are preference tbh, some prefer Affinity, some Capture One, some lightroom etc etc. Might be worth doing on a free trial and seeing which you prefer? Is Affinity Photo worth it? Its only £23.99 at the moment.
