Photo aspect ratio

I have a pretty basic Panasonic lumix, used for really run of the mill family photographs.
I get very frustrated that when trying to set any photos as a screensaver, the aspect ratio is all to pot.
The camera is set to 4:3 by default, my PC screen is 1920 x 1080.
Would changing the camera to 16:9 make all the difference?

Yes that should fit perfectly :)

1920/1080 = 1.78:1 as does 16/9 ;)

Which model of Panasonic Lumix is it? As above you could try a batch crop to make the images fit your screen better although depending on how they're frame you may cut off heads or parts of the subject.
