    I have just bought a Pioneer 812 receiver, and I wonder if someone will clarify if I need phone leads to play videos through the receiver.

    M video is scarted to the TV and Sky Digibox ;
    my digibox is scarted to the video (as above) and the TV
    the digibox is connected by phonos to the receiver, but there is no direct connection between the video and the receiver

    When I bought the kit, the shop (Creative Audio) said they expected that due to the Scart connections, there would be no need to connect the video to the receiver by phonos, as the video sound would effectively be output via the digibox connections. The Scarts are decent quality, B-Tech ribbon types.

    However, I cannot get sound from the video despite trying all the available input selections on the receiver.

    Any idea what the problem is ? How can I solve the problem or do I need to connect phonos between the video and receiver ?

    Thanks for any help you can give.

    Usual connection method requires only 2 scart leads:i Video to Digibox, Digibox to TV.T he digibox switches the signal from the video through when required. If the TV has phono audio outputs, connect these to the receiver and you will get sound from the source you are currently watching.

    I don't think that the digibox will put the video sound out on it's phonos.

    In addition to that you need Digibox -> Video to record stuff.
    (do it that way as some sky stuff is macrovision'd).

    I take a phono out from my TV to my amp, and select that no matter that input into my TV (VHS or SKY).

    WIth my digibox (Telewest cable) , the fully wired scart lead from the box to the video recorder serves for both playing videos or recording from the Digibox.

    Same with freeview digiboxes
