phonos needed to connect video to receiver ?

I have just bought a Pioneer 812 receiver, and I wonder if someone will clarify if I need phone leads to play videos through the receiver.

M video is scarted to the TV and Sky Digibox ;
my digibox is scarted to the video (as above) and the TV
the digibox is connected by phonos to the receiver, but there is no direct connection between the video and the receiver

When I bought the kit, the shop (Creative Audio) said they expected that due to the Scart connections, there would be no need to connect the video to the receiver by phonos, as the video sound would effectively be output via the digibox connections. The Scarts are decent quality, B-Tech ribbon types.

However, I cannot get sound from the video despite trying all the available input selections on the receiver.

Any idea what the problem is ? How can I solve the problem or do I need to connect phonos between the video and receiver ?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Try outputting phonos from tv to reciever, most tvs have scart plus audio out at the back.....
