Sounds very interesting indeed. Any other easily hackable PAL progressive capable players are very welcome.

The only fly in the ointment is that the European versions of both the Philips Q50 and the 962 are non-progressive scan, and hence unable to be hacked (they don't have the Faroudja chipset built in).

Does anyone know of any euopean companies importing the asian versions of these players. I'm a little bit reluctant to take a chance with UK customs on what duty they will tack onto any import from further afield ( eg. from www.hivizone.com ). Wasn't there a company importing the Nintaus? (they might bring in the asian Philips too)

    Regards,

    q50 + importtax+vat=£409 (not inc ship)
    962a+ importtax+vat=£516(not inc ship)

The q50 makes pal prog a little sweeter by knocking a little off the asking price. Is this the cheapest decent pal prog player yet?
