Answered Phillips Hue Equivalents

hi all - I'm just finishing off a build and doing the first fix.

I've jumped on the Hue bandwagon as it all seems to work flawlessly with HomeKit. I've been playing around and have settled on the Dresden strip controller with a 5m run for each of my roof windows (Velux) and now looking for cheap GU10s. Out of preference the white ambiance but only as 25 colour bulbs will cost as much as my extension!

Any alternatives or recommended suppliers with hefty bulk discounts?

Osram Lightify Smart 6W LED Colour Changing RGBW Spotlight, GU10, Dimmable - PACK OF 4 - Smart Home Lighting - Indoor Lighting - Lighting

Seem to be the only alternatives I've found.

Many thanks

I have lightify tunable white GU10 that I use direct (no gateway) with my SmartThings. That link is for the more expensive RGBW, you can get the tunable white for about £25 each.

They work fine for what I want, just have to remember not to switch off at the wall or they won't come on via app etc.

I'm after some RGBW lightify as well, as like you the Hue are just too expensive, as I have mostly GU10 as well.

I've got some innr bulbs from Amazon in a separate room. Work perfectly with the hue app and accessories.

I seen them from Amazon, any idea if they work with SmartThings as well? A bit cheaper again than lightify.

Hue work with SmartThings but need the Hue hub, so suppose I could get that.

Do the innr sync perfect with the Hue hub and respond as if they were Hue lamps for any events or schedules etc?

I've got no idea about smartthings. I use Homey as my controller to tie it all together as that can do proper multi-protocol.

Other than the initial pairing which is the reverse procedure of the original Philips Hue bulbs (i.e. off rather then on or vice versa), there is no difference between the way they operate. They show up like any other bulb in Philips hue.

I've kept them in another room (landing) purely due to any potential colour variations there may be. But I do the same with Philips hue where I don't mix colour and white bulbs in the same room.

I have heard good things about those Dresden controllers. Hopefully Hue keeps supporting aftermarket gear. We use the Google Home as an in between voice control for our lights. Its a bit gimmicky but fun and a good conversation piece at dinner parties.

@Simboo - they were really easy to wire up and install. Hue app finds them straight away and (in the tests prior to install) I couldn't find any issues...
