I have a Varilight dimmer switch in my living room, which comes with a small cheap plastic remote.
Having just bought a Google Home mini, I am looking for things to do with it.
Can I add GU35 bulbs to my spotlights and a Philips Hue kit, and control through Google, or will it conflict with the Varilight dimmer?
The Varilght dimmer will presumably now be redundant?

They wont play well with a dimmer switch, ideally you'd remove and replace with a normal switch.

Bear in mind you really want to leave the switch well alone, if they are turned off at the switch then you won't be able to control them.

ok, so remove the dimmer and replace with a standard on/off switch?

Yes basically that. You could think of something nice to prohibit the switch being used, I guarantee somebody will turn off the lights leaving you unable to control them.

If you want a switch you could look at adding a Hue dimmer, maybe over the switch so you still have an easy way of controlling the lights.
