Ok, when i brought the phillips hts3357 i had to buy a optical to coax converter so that i could connect it to my PS3 using the ps3s optical out port. When i did this i would get crackling from the speakers when switching between games/xmb and i would not get any sound on the xmb/ps store at all.
So is there anyway for these to be connected with these cables (optical-converter-coax) without any crackling or problems by changing options in the sound menu of the ps3, etc.
Im unsing the red and white cables at the moment which isnt 5.1 surround sound so i want to see if there is a way to use these cables to get 5.1 without problems.

Thanks for any help

You could make sure that only Stereo PCM, Dolby Digital, 44.1kHz and 48kHz are selected in the audio menu and go from there.
