Hello - long time lurker, first time poster.

I bought a Phillips DVDR520H today from an ex catalogue shop - £225. It was a fair bit cheaper than the other models that were on display, and looks much the same. There's an 80gb HD in it, and, on first glance, it seems to do the job well enough.

I have raced into buying this, which I don't usually do, but I figured at that price, I might not have time to come home, search for information and then go back and buy it. Turns out I was right, as I have spent some time online tonight and cannot find any conclusive info about the quality of the unit. I also don't know a lot about these machines so there may be some glaring ommisions in the feature list that I would not be aware of.

So I turn to you good people. I have 16 days to decide whether to keep this, and I can return it used, no problem. So, have I done well? Is this a good buy? Anything good or bad I should know?

    Many thanks.

    Steve

    Hi Steve

Features you may be missing later on are:

    1) Ability to playback stuff from harddrive/DVD while recording.
    2) No livebuffer (always record the TV-program you're watching)
