I've read a few posts about the lcd having hd issues through the dvi connection. Will it show 720p correctly?? I had a sp50 and i had a bit of overscan but i used the new nvidia drivers to pan around the missing parts of the screen, and this worked fine, will this be the same?? i dont understand that its 1366x768 not 1280x720p?? I will be running alot of hd material from my 6800gt into the dvi.

I have my heart set on this screen, loving the ambilight features, but need to know if its going to be ok for hd inc. skys hd service.

also is the new model coming out soon??? and also any good prices. I need a sub 2k ambilight screen!!

The 9986 will show the entire content when displaying 720p. But with a small black border all around (it does not scale the 720 lines up to the 768 line display resolution).

There is no way of driving it in 1366x768 resolution. The best you can get is 1280x768.

When htpc is a priority I would wait for the next model. But beware that in 1366x768 mode it is 60Hz and this is not optimal in Europe. 1280x720p50 may give a better picture, and the 9986 already supports that mode.

Plenty info on the new Philips 9830 around the forum. It is due within the next 2-3 weeks (!?) and is already priced below £2K. It will quickly drop to £1800ish then eventually settle at £1600ish.

The 9986 is ready for Sky HD but the 9830 is even more ready in that it comes equipped with two suitable connections.
