Philips TV - is it dead??

Hi all,

I have a 28 inch Philips flatscreen widescreen TV - i dont have the model number to hand.

Anyway - ive had this for a little over two years, and in the last couple of days it has started switching itself off

(right in the final of im a celebrity - would you adam and eve it!)

It will switch back on if you leave it for 5 minutes, but soon turns itself off again. Then the cycle repeats.

Does it sound dead? Or is it a simple repair?

sounds like something overheating causing a shutdown. After 5mins cooling it's OK.

Costs nothing to get an estimate, unless your hoping for a new TV

pre - forums i was a high street shopping mug that bought an extended warranty - from, you guessed it, the now bankrupt powerhouse.

thankfully the company that powerhouse used for the warranties is still going, so i can get a free repair - just called them - someone is coming out.

My Phillips 28PW9517 has also just started putting itself into standby. It's also about 2yrs old but no extended warranty. I'm about to start by checking the pcb solder joints.
Any clues where to start or other advice would be much appreciated.
