Philips to use LSI chips in new recorders

    Seems Philips has virtually give up trying to push it's own Nexperia chips for DVD Recorders............and this gives them the means to outsource production to the Far East....eg Benq and LiteOn

    But is this good or bad news?
    Will it improve their relability?

    Philips disastrous reliability problems in the early units were down to faulty cementation of the lens on the OPU. Nothing to do with the integrated circuitry.
