A colleague has just told me that he read in T3 magazine that Philips are gong to reduce the price of their "Pixel Plus Range" to make them more affordable.

I don't know whether this means that they will reduce the price of the current models, or whether they will bring out new 'affordable' models.

If this is true, I might have to put the order for my 36PW9607 on hold until the new pricing takes effect.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Although this range was introduced in May 2002, the 9607 costing £1999, and the 9617 being £1600, within a few weeks the big set was available for £1500 and the smaller one at £1275.
I have never known such a massive reduction to be available in such a small space of time.
The mature 36" Philips took at least two years to come down and even today is priced in major retail outlets up tp £2000.

If Philips reduce their initial price will the 36" be appearing for
    £999?

I,ve recently seen a new 32" pixel plus set (32PW9527) similar in looks to the 9617, (but without Dolby Digital and with 3 scarts instead of 4) for £1299 (currys store price)
