I bought a Philips SBCRU545 universal remote, with the intention of it operating a Philips telly, JVC video and Grundig GDT2000 digital terrestrial box.

Telly (obviously) and video are fine, but the Grundig isn't having it. I've tried all the codes in the manual (and all the Thomson ones just in case) and also the AutoSearch, which comes up with nothing. Philips's "helpline" asks, "have you tried all the codes in the manual and AutoSearch? If yes, your remote is not compatible with the equipment you are trying to operate".

I didn't need the helpline to tell me that. I assume, unless anyone here knows different, like there's some way to program the thing, that I'm stuffed? (Into the bargain, the dog's destroyed the packaging, so it's not going back to the shop).
