    I am thinking of a Philips DVD755VR combination DVD/VCR
(I can get one at a bargain price )

The previous model DVD740VR has RGB on scart for the european market, but in the US has component YCbCr outputs. I am assuming the new model is the same.

Is the Philips RGB on scart true RGB and thus not compatible with my projector ? if so would there be anyway of getting component out of the DVD player ( the american model has it ) or would they be completely different inside ?

Have you thought about an external RGB to Component converter? Keene do a few:
    www.keene.co.uk

Look for the "SYNCBLASTER RGB2C (RGB tp COMPONENT) Transcoder" by doing a product search for "RGB2C". I don't know how good the conversion is though.

Should be back to projection or plasma for this one. The best converters, as all self-respecting plasma buffs know, are made by Dr John Sim, www.rgbtosvideo.com Who will be happy to help. This will work with an AE100, no probs.

I can't knock the products but for most people the prices are too high to be exceptible. He'd be better off buying different actual dvd hardware than paying that much for an interface.
