I have provided a Philips RU970 for a home installation. The Panasonic Sky unit is in another room so the RF facility with RF extender is used. The sky unit can now be controlled. However, the hard key volume buttons on the side are sending out the volume codes as RF when the satelite page is selected with the result that the amplifier volume can't be adjusted without going back to the main page. I would have expected the hard buttons to continue to be IR as the global settings are being used and these are set for IR operation. Another problem is that the 'Vision' plasma power can't be operated from the Philips remote, we've tried everything and taken into account varying button codes on the plasm'a own handset. Can anyone help. Thanks in advance.

The hard keys take their IR/RF properties from the selected device. Therefore they will be sending the Amplifiers codes to the RF extender when the Sky device is selected.

It is possible to control both IR and RF devices from the same page or button by using the ALIAS command.

Create a copy of your SKY device and call it SKY RF. Move this device to the bottom of your list and set it as a Template to prevent it from showing up on the user device list, if used. Check the properties for this device are set to RF. Check the properties of a couple of the buttons to ensure the HEX commands have been copied over.

Change the properties of the original SKY device to IR. Select the first SKY buttons properties and delete the IR HEX command. Add an ALIAS command that links the the relevant button on the new SKY RF device. Repeat this for all SKY buttons.

Now when you select a hard key on the SKY page, an IR command will be sent to the amplifier and when you select a SKY button an RF command will be sent from the SKY RF device.

    Hope this helps

    Gerard,

Thanks for your reply. That all make sense. However, I'd already got round the problem via a different route. I made a non-showing page just for the hard key volume buttons. The volume codes were stored in two soft keys on this new page. It was set to IR. The volume hard key settings on all the other device pages were then aliased to the soft keys on the new page. This solved the problem.
