Philips move towards Dual-writers and recorders

    Well looks like Philips concedes that Dual-writers and recorders are the way to go.

    Philips semiconductors are the first Philips division to realise backing just one horse could be a bad decision, and are to start producing components that will support DVD-RW as well as +RW, and this will mean paying licensing fees to Pioneer amongst others. This is a clear indication that no format is going anywhere soon, and that dual-format writers and recorders are the only way to bring a standard to this confusion of formats.
