Philips HTL5120 Soundbar goes big on connectivity but low profile in design

Winging it

Philips' new HTL5120 Soundbar features an integrated active subwoofer in combination with 'Double Bass and Virtual Surround technologies' in a package they believe won't miss a separate sub.

It's priced at £250, on sale this month and the HTL5120 also features everybody's new favourite connectivity option - Bluetooth.

The Philips HTL5120’s features what they call a wing shaped profile which can be orientated in a table-top position or on a wall. Built-in sensors will then adjust output in accordance with position. Very much like the Samsung HW-F751 we covered recently.

Both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 2.0 decoding are included and the HTL5120 also has two HDMI ports so that in addition to a Blu-ray player the second HDMI port allows a set-top box, media system or games console to be connected. A lot we see have just the one, or none.

Launching in May the HT5120 will be available in John Lewis stores nationwide, priced £250.
