3.5" drives wouldn't be compatible (without external power). Only 2.5" ones stand a chance of being powered from the USB socket alone...

Don't want an external power supply involved... The last thing I want to do is have to cart a power supply back and forth to the DVD player/PC...

I'd rather just move the unit itself and that's it...

I have this one. Its a 500GB Iomega from Ebuyer (its already been mentioned)
    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/124035/rb/0

Formatted to FAT32 and it works great. Of course i do need the power supply but i had a spare one at work so i now have one over by the PC and one over by my 5980.

Wow! I'm right in saying the files when displayed on the DVD player are the order the files were added to the drive? And not sorted?

I've used the USB sorting app from phunkyfish's site to alphabetically sort, works well. I think youre right by the way there not sorted unless you do it yourself when you have the drive linked into your PC. The Lacie 500Gb one works fine aswell. Think there's problems with some external drives that have NAS/Ethernet options.

Can we get together a list of recent films that the 5960 has had problems playing due to USB1.1. Someone is hopefully going to test the Sumvision Phoenix USB2.0 port to see if they play OK on it, should be interesting.

Can that app just resort the entire drive easily? ie: Just point it at the drive, run & all done?

From what I remember I just pointed it at the folder and away it went:smashin:

I did an 8Gb USB penbdrive with it. Dont know if it does subdirectories though.

Does it do sub-folders? Does it take long?

I would want to just point at the main route and run it?

Sorry I was just editing about subfolders we must be telepathic!!!!!!!

I'll do a USB pendrive with a few subfolders. I'll start with the top tree and work down. It will be tomorrow though.
