Was about to buy this on amazon, but today it has jumped from £39.99 to £47!

    anyone know why? how?

Is Empire direct (£399.99 plus £5 postage) now the cheapest or anyone else seen somewhere else?

I would say £404.99 is a little steep, you'd be better investing in a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player for that much;)

Noticed the price has gone up myself. I'd buy the 5980 @ £58.00 but theres a 1 to 2 month wait :(

I paid £69.99 for the exact same player at the start of the year and it's now available for less than £49.99 pretty much everywhere, i have to say the player was a bargain even at the higher price tag, if only for its packed bitstream support and usb port. For divx playback it's a no brainer.

that price is actually from an Amazon marketplace seller, Amazon themselves have the 5980 for under £60

I bought one of these yesterday at Argos for £49.99.

Empiredirect have them for £39.99 but for delivery only.

    Hope that helps.
