Can anyone advise - or have the same issue???

i have this player connected via HDMI to input 4 on my plasma and via fully wired scart to input 2 for quick compare...flicking between the tv inputs to see the difference.

Well the HDMI definately looks better (which is expected) but the size of the widescreen bars top and bottom of the screen are MUCH bigger (double the size) on the HDMI connection compared to the scart connection.

Has anyone else noticed this?? or is it my setup??

Sounds like there's just more overscan being implemented by your screen on the Scart than HDMI.
It's nothing to be worried about, in fact you should be pleased because fullscreen video being watched through scart would've had more of the picture missing than it does now with HDMI.

This has probably been done as it is more likely that you would be watching TV (where overscan is used) through Scart rather than HDMI.

Well i had the same "problem" too. The first DVD i put in was Xmen2 and the black bars were as big as the video, which means in total there was more "black" than video...

Then.. I must have done something and now it's fine... Not sure if that's any help to you, but at least you know that it goes away if you do.. "something"...
