Philips DVDR745 - Freeview + 5.1 recording

    Philips shows the DVDR740 at the main page now too, only analog tuner but 5.1 recording and according to the specs also DVD+R DL recording.

    What I want in my next recorder is Freeview, DVD+R DL, 5.1 recording and a HDD :)

    Looks quite good: the Freeview is a good addition although the Sony RXD500 is going to be a better bet as Sony have spent a fortune implementing a fully searchable interface base don the Freeview EPG.

    DVD+R DL is surely wasted on a Philips standalone DVD recorder? Whats the point in having 8.5GB of capacity at £5+ each if your going to waste space on it using Philips 'editting' system.

    Yes I agree, DVD+R DL is not much worth without a HDD.
