I see the Philips-DVDR7260H is being offered at £160, which seems a bargain. I also see it doesn't feature much in this forum. Any reason why? Is Philips such a bad buy?

I'm looking also at the Sony RDRHXD970B (or 870), but that's an extra £100 (or £60 for smaller one). It does offer HDMI, and some other features such as USB support (allwos other file upload), but I dont have HD telly yet, and not sure how much it matters if I did. Any other thoughts/options?
Cheers, Iain

I have a Sony DRHXD870, but am currently connecting this to a crt tv.
The picture via the recorder tuner and by dvd is without fault. So good, I have no plans to update my telly fin the forseeable future. So I would not worry about not having a HD tv.
