When i switch the dvd recorder on it may only stay on for 4-5 minutes sometimes longer, but then shuts itself down and then to standby anyone know of this problem or have had the same problem?

    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome Spinky,

Does it have the latest firmware ? I'm not sure how you check on you machine but there may well be an update at the Philips website, which may well cure your problem. I'm afraid some of their DVDR's have a few problems. I know mine has.

    Cheers.

Can you play anything in it, either your own recordings or commercial DVDs?

How old is it and do you have proof of purchase?

    Hi thanks for the reply,

It will play and record, ive had it recording for maybe 3 1/4 of an hour then switches off, then other times it will switch off in minutes.

I got a batch of goods with the intention of selling them on so i wont be able to take it back to the shops ;)

I would say its 4-6 months old?

    Cheers

Without proof of purchase it will be difficult to get it repaired under warranty. You can try the firmware upgrade but it's not guaranteed to work.
