I am considering buying the Philips DVD963SA because it has progressive scan capability. I have seen the remote PAL progressive hack - has anybody done this successfully or had problems with it?

I am not interested in MR capability but I do want to play R2 discs using PAL progressive to my projector.

The hack is simple. On the remote press "PLAY 159 222 023 00 PLAY"

Then just change the picture options for progressive (new option appears) to unprocessed.

    That's all!

In the latest firmware version Pal P is enabled out the box.
    7.11.1

If you get a player with an older firmware you can download the updated one and burn to cdr then upgrade.

Can you point us to where the firmware can be downloaded from? I've search Philips web site and can find no mention of it. Cheers.

On that AVS forum post they also seem to be posting about problems with lip sync on playback of R2 discs using YUV PAL Prog Scan output.

Has anybody experienced any lip sync problems using their PAL Prog Scan hacked 963SA with R2 discs ?

looks from the on line manual that you can delay audio on the player. How many milliseconds can you go to ?

I have the r1 version of this player. Will this simple hack make my player able to play PAL DVDs from the UK? Thank you in advance! :) I've been searching and searching and it seems all the hacks are referring to r2 or other players, not r1, but I could be misunderstanding.
