Was supposed to be around Spring 2006 I believe. Although I suspect this is wishfull thinking to be honest given that the 9830 has only just been released. More like summer/autumn 2006 would be my guess.

Personally I suspect that ClearLCD will be shelved. Just an opinion mind you.

Its just that Philips have already announced new panels for next year (5ms response time!) which use a combination of ccfl (backlights) and back LEDs etc.

Next year should also see the introduction of superior technologies such as SED.

I just feel that the hcfl / scanning backlight approach is one that is already out of date and is already at risk of being superceded by superior (and more reliabel!) solutions.

    all imho

Oh dear... so does this mean it'll be a bit like the 100hz CRTs and have their problems?

Even still, I suppose it will be an improvement on the blurring on today's LCDs.

    Look at the articles date!

ClearLCD was supposed to be released in July 2005, but for reasons unknown to the public this release date was abandoned.

As I said above, I suspect that ClearLCD (based on HCFL) has already been superceded and will be a non-starter.
