    Hi,

Looking to replace my Sony XA333ES (£1200 CD/SACD player) with a £400 DVD/SACD player that's hopefully nearly as good with CD and SACD, and a decent DVD player. It must also have decent build quality - I saw the Pioneer 656 and it looks like a toy in comparison. The Sony 900 looks well built; I haven't seen the Philips in the flesh so I can't say about that one.

Hopefully I'll be able to demo the two players soon but until then, has anyone compared the two for CD and/or SACD quality?

    Thanks,
    Phil

The 999ES looks good but it is over twice the price! BTW the best prices I've seen so far are £317.96 at www.unbeatable.co.uk for the Philips and £249 (extra £50 for multiregion) at www.krishav.co.uk for the Sony.
