Bit of a newbie to all this...

Manual states to connect DVD with scart and (audio cable to "digital audio in" socket on TV) Dolby Digital sound.

I am not using my 2 rear surround speakers, perfectly happy to go with stereo, don't think I'm missing much after a bit of experimenting!

Is (as I suspect) the extra audio connection only for surround sound or will it enhance my stereo sound from the TV only?

    Cheers!

You'd be surprised at the number of things broadcast in Dolby Prologic (even adverts!) Connect your rear speakers and leave the TV in Dolby Prologic mode and you'll see what I mean.

I appreciate everyone trying to get me to use the surround sound but my living room is such that I can't really get good placement with the rear speakers.
i.e. can't sit in front of, or in the middle of them!

My main question was about connecting to the
    "digital audio in" socket.

Can anyone tell me if this is necessary when using the TV speakers only, or will have no effect?
