I live in Ireland and was in my local tv shop still trying to decide what tv to get. They had a 9308 tv on display - pretty well set up I might add. The picture was fantasic - best I have seen - pity they didn't have a 9618 nearby so I could compare.

Anyway - after reading some of the posts on here I looked for the pixels down either side of the tube to see if it was a panny tube - none to be seen. I asked the dealer about it and he said that all the philips sets he gets have philips tubes in them. I had a look at most of the ones he had there and no sign of a panny tube.

I also couldn't see any black bar problem in any of the sets either. I am sure that sets in the UK are made in the UK while Eire & the rest of Europe get their sets elsewhere - I wonder are the UK sets being treated differently - I know that the tuners are sometimes different for a start.
