Hello, everyone,

I've been the proud owner of the following components for a few days:

1x Philips TV 65Oled807
1x Philips Soundbar Fidelio TAFB1 (has been calibrated)
2x Philips Fidelio TAFS1
1x Philips subwoofer TAFW1

All equipment (plus TV) is on the same 5GHz WiFi and has received the latest update (with PS Fine Tune).
The soundbar was connected to the TV via an e-ARC cable to really get Dolby Atmos.
Any 3 devices (e.g. 2x FS1 plus 1x soundbar) can be used together in the DTS Play-Fi TV audio system app, which is very appealing.
If a 4 device is selected, the message appears that the maximum number of speakers has been selected.
If the home cinema is set up in the DTS Play-Fi app, all components (FB1+2x FS1+FW1) can be selected.
All speakers work - but the spoken word is now very quiet, muffled and it sounds like talking through cotton. If the volume adjustment is then selected, extremely loud noise can be heard.
Our four-legged friends then leave the room for a short time.
What am I not doing right here?

I have called and written to Philips support several times.
However, the mills grind very slowly and so far I have not received any feedback.
Maybe I'll get a hint here on how to get the system up and running.
I look forward to any feedback and wish you all a nice weekend!

So you can't add 4 devices at the same time (2 satellites,1 sub and 1 soundbar) unless you use DTS play fi home cinema option?

Bello erentil,

many thanks for the quick reply on this.

Unfortunately, DTS-Play only works to a limited extent.
The spoken word in the film is extremely quiet and not understandable.
Hopefully Philips can improve this soon.
Does it make sense to reset everything to factory settings and set it up again?
All boxes are actually running - but not in combination.

Best regards from germany.

Hello erentil,

thank you for the answere! Before i try this, DTS-Play fi app has been reloaded.
Immediately all equipment was successfully updated. Great.
And what do I have now: nothing good!

  • I only get 1x FS1 for about 2 seconds into the 5 GHz network, then always away, the other one can no longer be seen online at all
  • I can't get Subwoover online at all anymore
  • the soundbar is online in the FRITZ!Box, but no longer works

If I now go to the TV audio settings and want to select the soundbar, a small box goes full blast, although you are not watching online.

Now at least I still have the full range of TV sound. After all.

I placed the router (with WPS button) and the box right next to each other.
Resetting to factory settings hasn't helped either.
Well, it went really stupid….

Can I still top up here? Do you have another tip for me?

Good Morning,

Feedback on my system:
Disconnected everything from the network overnight and next day set up a new WLAN with another FRITZ!Box. Then I reset all devices. Then the "old" FRITZ!Box is connected again!
Only now could I gradually integrate all Play-Fi devices as described. An FS1 needed a little longer for this. Set up the home cinema on the TV with just a few clicks.
What can I say - simply bomb - everything fits, no compromises - surround sound simply stunning - great!
After a long time back and forth and some frustration plus shooting money, a more than forgiving conclusion!

Kind regards (now from a satisfied Philips customer)

It does appear to be a great idea/setup to have the TV control the sound system, essentially removing the need for a soundbar in front of your TV as the tv speakers are more than capable of providing centre speaker duties.

I've gone for a Samsung Q990B system - it sounds great, but it does spoil the clean look of the tv on its own.
