Question Philips 6000 series connection problem?

Novice Member
We just bought a Philips 55" 6000 series (55PUT6102/56) and are having two serious problems connecting to the internet. Technically the first one isn't serious, just a tad concerning.

  1. Every time the TV turns on we have a 15-20 second "Connecting to Philips servers" message. Is this normal? We never had a similar case with our older Samsung TV - it would open straight to the menu. Do we really have to connect through Philips every time time? Besides looking kind of creepy, it's also annoying to have to sit through it every time on startup. What exactly is the nature of this connection?
  2. While watching YouTube, every few videos the app crashes and we get a black screen, followed by being returned to the Network settings to connect to the WiFi again. The previous TV didn't have any issues like this and all our other devices work in this room, so I doubt it's a problem with our network itself.

We also installed the software update today, but there doesn't seem to be much change.
