Philips 50PUS6703 HDMI ARC issue with Soundbar and PS5

I am watching a Blu-Ray on my PS5 which is plugged direcetly into my Samsung Q70T soundbar which is passing through to HDMI2 on the Philips 50PUS6703 TV. All fine. I get a UHD picture through the TV and Dolby Atmos through the soundbar. Looks and sounds great.

HDMI2 supports HDCP 2.2 in.

The problem is when I want to watch TV or native apps on the Philips. Obviously there's nothing plugged into HDMI1/ARC - so I get no sound through the soundbar (why would I). But HDMI1/ARC doesn't support HDCP 2.2.

With me so far?

So I'm compromised. I can either have PS5 setup working great or I can have TV setup but only get the PS5 passing through it a 1080p which isn't so great.

Short of buying a new TV with eARC is there a solution with what I already have?

Lightbulb moment - I can use SPDIF optical out from the TV to the soundbar as a workaround. Writing down the problem helped me figure it out.
