I have one of these older 50" plasma TVs 1366 x 720 which will accept a 1080 line input.

It has an HDI input and I have connected an adapter to HDMI and connected this via an HDMI lead to a new HD sat RX but it will not accept a signal from this although it does display "illegal signal" !

Nor will it show the picture from my HD camera or from an upscaled DVD player. I have to use component video from the camera.

One of the annoying things about the HD sat receiver is that as I cannot view the picture I cannot view its menu ! Same with the upscaled DVD.

Any ideas what might be wrong? Could it be as simple as a faulty or wrong HDI/HDMI adapter?

1366 x 720 is 720, not 1080. Try connecting one of the device via scart and changing the output to 720 and see if that makes a diffrence
