Philips 42PFL7603D-Problem with software updates?

Standard Member
First posting and a regular reader who has bought products on the strength of member reviews and found this forum very helpful.

Had my Philips 42PFL7603D for just a couple of weeks and very impressed with overall performance until today. Updated software as per the user manual and unit refuses to reboot. I contacted Philips customer service and after a very brief conversation was told to contact the supplier and ask for a replacement!Does anyone know if this is an ongoing issue with this particular philips or am i just unlucky?

Hi Simon
Thanks for the reply. I get my replacement on Sat and will take the advice of Philips customer care engineer, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

I applied the most recent update to my 42PFL7603D (Version: week and had a similar problem. It accepted the update ok, then restarted itself... restarted itself... restar.. you get the picture. It wouldnt stay on for more than about 10 seconds.

Philips' engineers have taken it away under warranty after sending out someone with an instruction manual and a usb stick (I wasnt impressed!). Hopefully it wont take them forever to fix it, they quoted around 10 working days.

If anyone is reading this and planning to do the firmware update.... think twice!!

I have since read posts from others who have failed updates. It must be a major problem with this set and certain updates.
