I bought the Philips 37pf5521d from Currys - £824 - Tesco £1299.99!! Anyway the picture quality is not what I expected of an LCD. Despite altering all the settings there are very fine vertical lines down the screen which are visible close up (most noticable on peoples noses) and the picture is a bit blurry, amost as if there was a thin film of water over the image. By no stretch of the imagination can the picture be described as "Vivid, natural and razor sharp images" as quoted by some retailers. The picture looks not bad when viewed from about 8 - 10 feet away and the 5 terrestrial channels are better than the other channels. Am I expecting too much from this TV or is it normal to have to view from a distance?

Well that advice was most helpful. Thank you so much. Have I got BO or something?

Happy new year and once again thank you all for the advice given to me. You really are a generous bunch.

It could be that this TV is not very popular.

Exactly what sources are you using? Freeview? Analogue? Sky?

Have you tried a DVD?
