    Hi

I own a DVD player that does not have Progressive Scan.

I want to buy a Philips 9986 37" Tv which support progressive Scan

    My question is:

Does the Philips support Progressive Scan via scart?

Which is the best way to go? Scart or Component?

    Hi Jepsen,

You'll find that the Prog Scan through Scart is rarer than rocking horse doo doo. The Philips wont accept a Prog Scan signal through the Scart input anyway and to watch Prog Scan, you must have a DVD player capable of sending a Prog Scan signal.

If you want Prog Scan you need to get a DVD player with Prog Scan and connect it either by Component or by DVI depending on the connections on the back of the DVD player. DVI is supposed to give a cleaner picture as it is digital. On all DVD players with a DVI connection, they will also upscale to 720 Progressive from 576 Interlace (PAL).

    Richie.
