When I tested my R3 version of I Robot outputted at 1080i, the picture was superb and filled the screen horizontally, as expected for the aspect ratio 2.35:1

However, when testing the R2 version of the same film, (at 1080) there was a 3cm black border on the left side of the picture. When the player is just powered up, this black border is also present on the "denon" start up screen.

I have not tried any other R2 discs as my old man does not have any!

Any ideas as to whether it's a player or TV issue?

    Thanks

You can use the TVs remote arrow keys left/right to shift the picture into the correct position. It sometimes shifts between inputs.
