I'm about to take the plunge and buy a LCD TV.
The Philips 32 PF9986 has received good reviews for picture quality.
I watch and record a lot of footie via Sky+ and would be interested
to hear how the 32PF9986 handles live and recorded football. I have
had a problem with my 32PW9588 CRT (second generation Pixel Plus
with Movie Plus) when watching football. There is a slight dark streak (positioned just right of centre) that runs vertically down the screen.
Before getting the 32PF9986, I want to make sure it doesn't exhibit
this problem.
Thank you for your help.

Don't know about the Philips, but due to the compression on $ky digital, the picture is pretty rough, especially on wide shots where there are lots of small moving areas on a 'plain' background!

I haven't seen the black line on my screen. Have you got another screen you could try to check if it's the $ky box?

Thanks, for your reply.

The vertical streak is noticeable (particularly when watching football)
both through the aerial and Sky+ box (live and recorded). I have not noticed this problem on Sony TVs, for example, but the problem has
been there on both 32PW9588 TVs that I've had. Interestingly, I read
a review on a website from someone with a 32PW9528 Philips TV who
had the same problem.

I'm hoping that with the new Pixel Plus 2 range (including the 32PF9986
LCD that I am thinking of buying) that Philips have successfully sorted
out this problem.

Cheers

Sounds more like a hardware problem to me.
