    Hi all

Having managed to get a price match of £1999.00 last week at JL Edinburgh, imagine my shock at seeing an even lower price today at JL Glasgow of only £1937.00 including 5 years warranty.

I am getting mine delivered tomorrow, hopefully the snow won't prevent that....

Meanwhile, am on the phone seeing if I can get a further refund :D

Was in JL in glasgow on sunday. The 9986s are in the surround sound room along with a JVC model and the tosh 32WL48. 9986 picture was noticeable better than the tosh, but not sure if it was ~200 quid better ;-)

Yes it certainly pays to shop around....

After JL Oxford Street declined a price match of £1999 at a local shop (model not on display etc...), I phoned a dozen JL stores around the UK. Most quoted the full price (£2995) whilst a couple quoted between £2299 - £2499.
JL Watord quoted £1999 and JL Glasgow £1937. Glasgow would not deliver to London and claimed a JL store near me would not match this price so I rang JL Reading again (£2299 local price match) and conviced them to match the Glasgow price although I will have to wait up to a month until I get the telly.

    Here's waiting in anticipation.....

Are you sure that they are not confusing the Philips 9976 (£1995) with the 9986 (£2995) both as viewed/priced in JL Kingston yesterday? It is my experience that product confision is common in some stores.

I know, I did a double-take myself - it is definitely a 9986. Incidentally, JL Edinburgh seems to be the most price-match friendly - they will match anywhere in the country and deliver wherever, whereas Glasgow seem to be one of the worst. I asked the staff in Glasgow and they gave me a completely different story!

:smashin: The quoted price was for a 9986!

Alan, as you seem to have been given one of the last current stocks I suggest you check the firmware version. Apparently (from other threads) the older 1.3 is being delivered instead of the later 2.1

Good luck when you get it.

 Sorry Alan, I just read the other threads and you are obviously aware of the firmware issue.

i went on a trawl through glasgow yesterday and saw three 32 "9986 tvs.they all had the old software in them 1.3.in robert whyte's shop they have a 32 on the top shelf and a 37 on the lower shelf.the 32 looked a steadier picture than the 37.in my eyes anyway.the 32 9986 really looks superb.will be purchasing one soon.

I've just got John Lewis Peterborough to pricematch with Glasgow (confirmed in writing), having quoted this thread.
Reduced the price from £2100 to £1937
All I need now is for JL at Peterborough to get some stock
