Hello there, having read countless reviews regarding various 28" CRT TVs, I'm now completely unable to decide on one!

I notice that a catalogue shop is selling the above model for £199 and was wondering whether to just take the chance and order it!

I can't find a review for this model anywhere - does anybody here own one, or has any knowledge of them?

I've read a review for the 6006 and this came out quite well, but the 6008 might be significantly different...

I've previously considered a Sony DL11 or HX15 or Philips 6559 or 6518, but they're significantly more expensive than the 6008.

    Thanks for reading...

    Andy

I used to have the 6006 which is known to have a issue with RGB handling. If you search in this forum for it, you'll find plenty of other people have experienced it too. I don't fully understand it and it may be fixed on the 6008, but I'd look into it if I were you.

I bought my mother one from Argos for £199 a few months back, and its excellent quality.

Thanks for the replies - I visited C*m*t (can I say that here?) tonight and still couldn't decide. Does the 6008 do a trick whereby you can have text on one side of the screen whilst still seeing the normal picture by its side? I know some Philips models do this but getting info from websites/vendors is very difficult...

Also, SOK, did the Argos TV include a stand?

    Ta

No, Argos one was without stand. And it doesn't do split screen either.

This is what makes me so frustrated, http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/2/28pw6008_05/28pw6008_05_pss_eng.pdf clearly states:

    Video and teletext dual screen
Video and teletext dual screen provides you with the
capability to show video and teletext pages from the
same channel side by side on one screen.

    Twin page teletext
Twin page teletext allows you to simultaneously view
two teletext pages side by side

I assume therefore that the model sold in Argos is not a 6008/05 but an earlier model that doesn't have the above features...
