Anyone out there have one of these? Had a look at it in a showroom over the weekend and thought they looked nice. Geeometry seemed good, picture seemed good. Especially like the fact it has a radio built in. Useless, but nice and gadgety <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Seemed nice during the 5 minute demo, but anyone used one for a while at home and found problems?

    Cheers,<br />John

(I've finally given up on the idea of 28PW6515 as all the ones I saw over the weekend had atrocious geometry. Also not willing to risk the picture processing faults)

I have the same question as John. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about the Philips 28PW6006? Thinking of getting one from Hi-Spek which is only 10 miles from me.

And yes, mwhorley, I know you like yours :) :)

I bought one of these about two months ago for the decent price of £320 sans a stand (doh.. its still sitting on my living room floor :) ) and I'm very happy with it as my first TV since a 14inch colour Matsui TV I got 6 yrs ago :) )

As such I don't have any great experience with TVs, but I've not noticed any serious problems and ran through the Video Essentials dvd with it. The only points of concern I have are that with a bright image (such as a bright white screen, or occasionally during WaveRace on my GameCube.. grr), two small patches of colour appear on the left and right sides (green and brown I believe.. not at home at the moment to check). It goes away if I change the source a few times. Also the AV inputs at the back are a bit loose.. I'm afraid to push them in too hard in case they end up halfway inside the casing

The radio is nice as I dont have a tuner in my HiFi yet (slowly but surely :) ) but it's annoying that I cant listen to it while showing a TV picture.. it switches to a black screen with the radio frequency details in orange on it iirc.

But on the whole I am happy with it. It has the features I want (rgb, ntsc, audio outs to plug into my amp, decent picture) at a very good price imo, even better without the £70 stand :).

(OH! Before I click submit.. slight annoyance that it didn't have an S-Video input as I was expecting down the side (as the model it replaces did iirc).. I had to get an additional S-Video -> SCART connector to use my GameCube in AV2.)

    Edit: typos

As Seamus knows I'm very satisfied with mine - do a search on my name to get the full gen from earlier posts.

To recap I paid £359+£10 delivery for the 28" model including a rather pleasant stand from :-

www.greatelectrics.com - phoned the order therough it arrived next day at 10am.

Personally don't think there is a better set available under £450.

Read the reviews of the model it replaces - everyone loved it.

    Sorry mwhorley,
I am new to these forums and TV tech in general.
Can you read these reviews on line.
I assume you mean the 6005??
    Thanks

I Believe the 6006C replaced the 6305C, I was told this by a couple of retailers. Here are the reviews which make very positive reading :-

    http://www.whatvideotv.com/testbench/index.html - you'll have to search for the 6305

    http://www.beststuff.co.uk/28inch_wide_screen_tv.htm

    http://www.homecinemachoice.com/tes...nch/Televisions/Philips/Philips28PW6305.shtml

'What Hi-Fi' sound & vision gave the 6305 their TV product of the Year for 2001 - five stars (that was at £530)

It anyone is in doubt after all those awards you may as well go and buy a black & white bush portable.

    Mike.
