Wasn't really sure whether to post this on the Plasma or DVD forum - rather than double post I plumped for this forum - so please bear with me.

    I have a Denon 1920 DVD and a Panasonic 42" PHD8 Plasma.

I have them connected with both HDMI and Component - I did also have S-Video at one point.

Thing is, to my eyes when I play a DVD it looks spectacular on all the inputs and I can't really see any difference.

I've disconnected the S-Video now as it is being used by my Sky+ and I assume it must be the least capable of my three DVD options.

This leaves me with the following alternatives out of the DVD player

    Component 625i
    Component 625p
    HDMI 480p YCbCr
    HDMI 720p YCbCr
    HDMI 1080i YCbCr
    HDMI 480p RGB
    HDMI 720p RGB
    HDMI 1080i RGB

All these modes work with my setup and to be honest I struggle to tell the difference.

On the one hand I could accept that they all look good, pick one and quit worrying - but I have this niggle - have I chosen the best one.

Is there a more scientific way of comparing them - testcard or something.

I have the DVE disk if that helps.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

    Thanks for the advice -

    What is the difference between

    HDMI 720p RGB

    and

    HDMI 720p YCbCr?

Is one preferable to the other for the PHD8?

    Thabnks for the help

    Nigel
