I have just read that the PS3 will required a TV capable of HDMI 1.3. Is the Panasonic board (TY-FB8HM) compliant?

Has it been confirmed that the PS3 will only output through HDMI?

Surely they will support more output options much like the 360...

where is your source for this info. i have read that although the PS3 will be capable of outputting hdmi v1.3 it is also backwards compatible with version 1.1 and 1.2 of hdmi.

plus we should still have the option of old reliable (component)

    The phd8 can process and display 720 p and 1080 i @ 50 htz (but it cannot process 1080p)
with the ps3 you can chose your output (all of the above)

I may be wrong on this, and someone more knowledgeable than me will correct me if this is the case.

I believe the phd8 hdmi board (which i also have, is version 1.1). hopefully we should be ok...the ps3 also being on my wish list.

but until we see final specs (who knows)

    hope this helps

I think PS3 will be component out as well as HDMI.
I read the information on v1.3 from http://www.ps3scene.com

It came from the GDC conference.

interesting acticle...it would be a very odd move by sony to have HD only on hdmi v1.3

i dont think there are many (if any) tvs or amps that can accept this currently. therefore it would be really stupid of sony to allow this option only. Even by November i doubt if many people would have hdmi 1.3...christ version 2 only came out at xmas 2005 !!! i shall watch and see !

Just done a brief look around the net. What I can gleam is the the change in specification to 1.3 from 1.1 is mainly how the sound is handled, not the video.

On the asusmption that you will be able to use a digital optical cable to an AMP or similar, HDMI hopefully will be fine for the video.

I personally do not understand - and possibly will get a lot of flak for this statement - why anyone who is spending a lot of moeny on their visual experience, would not get an amp for the sound anyway.
