after some great advice and help off this forum, im dead set on a phd8, however...........

the mrs loves the glass look of the 436xde!!
grrrrrr!

unable to find a phd8 in kingston area and she hates the ph7 so cant use that to convince her!
:lease: could anyone who owns a phd8 please please post some pics so i can try to convince her, all pics would be really appreciated especially close ups of the frame as this seems to be her only concern!

really would appreciate it if you could help save this members sanity! :suicide:

hoping to order tomorrow from av-sales

things are so bad im considering getting a high gloss plexiglass frame made to please her! might even be a market for it :D

cheers to all

the frame is very similar to the phd7, maybe a bit thinner....but if she doesn't like that sort of thing she wont like this......though she is mad coz it's bloody gorgeous! :)

cheers mep

i was hoping the fact that it was thinner and 'bevelled' might make a little difference and there might be some members who have a nice set up like in the 'get your plasma out for the lads' to show her that they can still look good when set up! you know how it is, she has seen a pw7 in richer sounds window stuck on a particle board!! not the best image to try and sell her on the idea :suicide:

Just taken one of mine, it is the 50" but gives you an idea of it mounted....

Excuse the funny light in the room, I tried to adjust the camera so the clours looked right on screen rather than in the room! :)

Hope that helps your cause, but I doubt it! ;)

I bought them for my wife, she is lying on the sofa recovering, she opened my charge card statement and saw the plasma price!

The closest your going to get to an XDE with the PHD8 is to whip off the bezel and have it painted gloss black.

There are snap on bezels available - though its usually mighty costly.

Best regards

Joe

i thought about the spraying but was concerned about invalidating the warranty, does it or not?

I don't know what the programme is, just something that was on SKY.

Davsdu, that is going through the crystalio and scaled to 1366x768 and back to the screen RGBhv.

What resolution is the source? And that is through the vga port?

The source is 576i, just regular TV, coming out of the Sky box SDI, and then I go out 5bnc to the 5bnc board in slots 2 and 3.

would you say a scaler is the way to go for the 42" version or not as beneficial as with the 50", and how much is a piece of kit like that inc cables and bits?

Hello bellyfluffer

The Bezels would have to come from the US - they used to have Distribution in the UK though I think that stopped earlier this year; see http://www.digitalfactory.com/gallery.cfm > bottom of the page (its an odd web site - nearly as bad as my own!!!).

If you talk nicely to certain Panasonic Dealers they can deliver a sprayed unit without invalidating your warranty.

Best regards

Joe

PS A good quality external Video Processor plus someone to install, configure and calibrate it for you makes a huge difference to what you see on screen.

Ahh I see. So you bought the extra 5bnc input board.
In your opinion, would the quality of the picture be the same through the vga port?
(5bnc--->vga cable - from a DVDO scaler)
